The Prosperity Deal is a citizen-created policy proposal, built to protect NZ from AI job displacement.
It started because our policy strategist had an inside view of what corporations plan to do to jobs in New Zealand. Up to 44% of our jobs could be automated by 2030. None of our leaders are talking about it.

Read the policy
The Prosperity Deal is a living proposal — built with care, backed by research, and still evolving. Like all good policies, it will grow stronger through public input, critique, and collaboration. You're welcome to read, share, and respond. If something doesn’t sit right or sparks a better idea, we want to hear from you.

What it is
The Prosperity Deal proposes a universal basic income framework built to protect New Zealanders from AI-driven job displacement and redefine the value of contribution in a post-work era. It proposes a tiered UBI, funded through automation-linked levies and civic investment, with phased rollout and strong oversight.
Why it matters
We’re facing a seismic shift in how—and whether—people work. This isn’t about left or right politics. In fact, the policy is nonpartisan. It’s about survival, dignity, and the right to participate in the future. The Prosperity Deal offers a practical, scalable response to protect individuals and preserve social cohesion as technology accelerates.
A work in progress
This policy is bold, detailed, and ambitious — but like all good public ideas, it will keep evolving. If you’re reading this, you’re already part of the conversation. We welcome questions, critiques, and contributions. If you would like to collaborate, please get in touch using the email below. Let’s build the future together.

For Businesses: It Pays to Back The Prosperity Deal
This is economic risk management
The Prosperity Deal helps ensure your customers, workforce, and markets remain stable as automation transforms the economy. It's a plan to future-proof your bottom line by investing in the society your business depends on.
Avoid the demand collapse
A shrinking middle class means shrinking consumer spending. By guaranteeing a basic income floor, the Prosperity Deal protects aggregate demand — so people can keep buying your products, paying their rent, and fueling the economy.
Reduce friction, uncertainty, and reputational risk
This is not red tape — it's a rules-based, transparent system. Companies that meet their obligations under the Deal gain access to Trust Tier certification, with benefits like fewer compliance audits, faster AI licensing and approvals, public recognition through the Prosperity Partner badge and a Preferred Supplier status for future government contracts
Retain a healthier, more resilient workforce
UBI reduces burnout, improves mental health, and lowers turnover — making your staff more reliable, creative, and loyal. This is not welfare. It's a productivity enhancer.
Join the table, shape the future
Participating businesses will have a seat on the Prosperity Deal Council, alongside iwi, unions, educators, and civil society — helping refine policy in real time and ensure it reflects the realities of innovation and industry.
